The Budget - What can you buy for 5K

My father always said "make sure you put some money away for a rainy day" I completely ignored his advise until I have a family of my own. I think i'll be able to pick a car up a decent car up for £5000. At the moment I have exactly zero put aside so I better start saving hard. 
What can you buy for 5K ?

1. A lovely Austin Healey Sprite MK3 in Red with Black leather seats for carandclassic.co.uk

2. A Wartburg Barkas / Framo V901 for a Polish site  otoMoto.pl "I love this truck" This would be great on the Polish roads but not so good for a trip to the shops. Its very tempting, if only I had the money.

3. Volvo Amazon 122 S a great looking car with only 72200 km on the clock from Germany. If I had to have a Volvo I would pick a P444 but I'm sure a good one would be more that €5000

The Reason for a second car

So we moved to Poland 2.5 years ago and drove our UK car here for a sort time. You're not able to  register or insure a RHD in Poland so we needed to sell it and buy a new car. I work from home so we needed a family car (for my wife & son)  a great reason to buy a second car for me. During our search for the family car I kept finding myself browsing the internet and always ending up on classic car pages. I did my best to persuade my wife to consider an old classic, there was no chance.
This was 18 months ago and a day doesn't go buy without a 10 minute fix hoping i'll find that deal of a life time.  A regular four sites are Allegro, eBay, Mobilede & Carandclassic.co.uk

Not a Petrol Head

My goal is the treat myself to a classic convertible in April 2014. Ive always have an interest in classic cars but i'm no petrol head. In fact at the moment I would struggle to open the bonnet of our current car. I've fond memories of annual trips with my father to the car shows in Earls Court & Birmingham back in the seventies. Also family trips to the coast in my fathers White Ford Zephyr Mark III "he loved that car"
